These paintings are mostly hurried copies made from prints in various books. The originals were never studied. I may also add that when the largest portion of these were begun I had barely touched a paintbrush to a canvas in years, having turned my focus towards applied arts of the finishing trade, carpentry, furniture making, stained glass works, etc. I agreed to engage commissions at an alarming rate of production. Having never forseen myself in such a predicament I was forced to learn on my feet (nothing new in that), and quickly realized that I would like to commit to deeper study of classical painting as soon as possible, perhaps through receipt of scholarship or a grant.
